This modern method of hemorrhoid treatment is indicated for 1-2 stage of internal hemorrhoid. It is also applied as the auxiliary procedure at more serious stages of hemorrhoid disease. In case of prolapse of hemorrhoids, this method is applied along with rubber band ligation.
The treatment is administered as follows: Producing stronger thermal effect on hemorrhoids, the focused infrared radiation causes coagulation of the pedicle of hemorrhoid, which results in rejection of hemorrhoids in some time.
METHOD OF PERFORMANCE OF PROCEDURE
Before the procedure, the surface of hemorrhoids is desiccated. Then the proctologist inserts a lighted anoscope into patient’s rectum so that the hemorrhoid is in the lumen of apparatus tube. Then the tip of infrared coagulator is inserted in the lumen of anoscope’s tube. It is placed at the vascular pedicle and pushed to the mucous membrane. After that, the coagulation is performed. For one session, 1 hemorrhoid is treated.
In total, it may take up to six sessions of the infrared coagulation with a two-week interval. The infrared coagulation procedure lasts for about 30 minutes on the average. This manipulation is minimally invasive (does not leave scars and marks) and painless, as it is performed in the area, lacking in pain receptors. The infrared coagulation does not cause complications. The side effects are insignificant and occur rarely – increased body temperature and mild pain. The rehabilitation period after procedure is from 1 hour to 2 days. The complete healing and recovery occurs after several days after procedure.
Oxford Medical clinic offers its patients affordable prices for different procedures for hemorrhoid treatment, including the infrared coagulation. As the infrared coagulation procedure does not require hospitalization, the additional expenses are reduced.
