Removal of baby teeth in Kiev

Removal of a baby tooth – although it is an exciting, but painless procedure. At the “Oxford Medical” clinic, it is performed under local anesthesia or sedation (drug sleep). In both cases, the child does not feel anything and leaves the clinic without tears.

In children, the roots of baby teeth begin to resorb from the age of 3. Between the ages of 6 and 12, they fall out and are replaced by permanent ones. Ideally, this process should not be disrupted by premature tooth extraction. This procedure is a last resort and is recommended only when saving the tooth is no longer possible or is impractical.

Before removing a baby tooth, dentists at “Oxford Medical” must conduct a diagnosis: take an X-ray or an orthopantomogram (panoramic image of the jaw). These examinations allow you to assess the condition of the roots and the presence of root tooth buds underneath. The results obtained help to make sure that extraction is really necessary.

When a baby tooth can be saved and there are no clear indications for its extraction, experts recommend not extracting it. Early loss of primary teeth can lead to impaired diction and improper formation of the permanent bite.

Is it painful to remove a baby tooth?

At «Oxford Medical» treatment and extraction of milk teeth are performed without pain and stress. Clinic specialists use play adaptation methods to help the child get used to the atmosphere of the clinic and tune in to the procedure.

Depending on the indications and individual characteristics of the child, extraction is performed:

Under local anesthesia

First, a "freezing" gel is applied to the gums so that the child does not even feel the injection, and then an anesthetic is injected. Local anesthesia is recommended for easy tooth extraction and the child's psychological readiness for the procedure.

Asleep or under sedation

The child is put into a superficial drug sleep using mild sedatives. They have a relaxing effect on the nervous system, but do not affect breathing and heartbeat. Sedation is well tolerated by children and, with proper preparation, does not cause complications.

The use of drug sleep is advisable when the child is facing a complex procedure, several teeth need to be removed or filled in one session, the child is very afraid or cannot sit out the entire session due to their young age.

How is milk teeth removed?

The process of tooth extraction is quite quick and consists of the following stages:

  1. Anesthesia.

  2. Tooth extraction using special forceps.

  3. Skin preparation.

  4. Stopping bleeding and placing a cotton swab.

  5. In some cases, stitches are also applied to close the wound.

After tooth extraction, the child needs to hold the cotton swab in place for 30 minutes, not eat or drink anything for 2 hours, brush their teeth carefully and not suck out the blood clot on their own.
