Breast X-ray imaging allows assessment of the internal structure of tissues and detection of changes that cannot be identified during palpation.
The examination can reveal:
-
tissue densities in the breasts that are not always detectable on palpation;
-
nodular formations of various sizes and structures;
-
microcalcifications — small calcium deposits that have important diagnostic value;
-
areas of fibrotic or structural changes in the tissues;
-
signs of changes that may correspond to both benign and malignant processes.
Mammography results make it possible to determine the presence of tissue changes that may correspond to various conditions, including breast adenosis, mastopathy, and others. To уточнити the diagnosis, additional examinations may be prescribed. In cases where it is necessary to accurately determine the nature of a lesion, a biopsy followed by histological examination is performed. If no changes are detected on mammography, the conclusion is issued as normal, and additional examinations are not required.
