After placement of the plate, the child needs time to get used to it.
In the first days, the following may appear:
- a feeling of pressure in the upper jaw;
- increased salivation;
- minor discomfort while chewing;
- changes in pronunciation.
Usually, these manifestations gradually decrease within several days.
During the adaptation period, it is advisable to give the child soft food and avoid products that may damage the structure: nuts, crackers, hard candies, toffees, chewing gums.
If the structure rubs the mucous membrane, causes pronounced pain, interferes with eating, or the child complains of severe discomfort after activation of the screw, it is necessary to contact an orthodontist. The doctor will check the position of the structure and, if necessary, adjust it.
