Inhalation

The treatment by inhalations is the ancient and effective therapeutic method of many diseases. The inhalations in the modern medicine are performed by using nebulizers and special preparations and have little in common with home steam inhalations.

The inhalations can be of several types: steam, aerosol and nebulizer. The first consists in inhaling the minutest particles of useful substances with the steam, second – in their spraying under pressure. In the nebulizer under the air pressure, created by the powerful compressor, the solution of the medicinal preparation is dispersed into smallest particles, which are inhaled by the patient.

The nebulizer inhalation is the most effective and safe type of inhalation. It is important that the patient inhales only air and particles of the medication, which create pressure in aerosol inhalers. In addition, the patient inhales the air of room temperature, thanks to which the risk of the burn of the mucosa is excluded.

The inhalations are indicated for the following diseases:

• ARVI (cold);
• ENT diseases (runny nose, sinusitis, tracheitis, laryngitis) and complications after them;
• bronchitis;
• bronchial asthma;

The performance of inhalations in the recovery process after  pneumonia is also possible.

Using the nebulizer, it is possible to apply:

• preparations, dilating the bronchi;
• drugs for dilution of the sputum and improvement of expectoration;
• hormonal preparations;
• anti-allergic preparations;
• antibiotics and antiseptics;
• saline solutions.

It is prohibited to perform inhalations, if you have severe heart failure, arrhythmia, pulmonary hemorrhage and pneumothorax.

The inhalations are considered to be the ineffective treatment, because the inappropriate preparations and incorrect methods, performed at home, are often applied.

The inhalation, performed as per all the rules, with application of appropriate preparations is a very effective method of delivery of medicinal preparations in the respiratory ducts. That is why it is better to undergo the course of inhalations under the care of medical workers, who know which preparations and in which doses will be the most effective for the patient.
