There are several classifications, which are based on the results of gynecological or radiological studies, as well as on possible clinical manifestations, but a single view of this problem has not yet been developed. In general, fibroadenomatosis can be divided into two forms: diffuse and nodular.
Diffuse fibroadenomatosis is characterized by an even growth of connective tissue, in which a woman is disturbed by:
-
increased sensitivity, soreness, feeling of heaviness in the chest;
-
the appearance of seals and breast swelling, passing by the end of menstruation;
-
discharges from the nipples (transparent, light, milky, dark green and even brownish).
In some cases unpleasant sensations disturb a woman before the beginning of menstruation and in its first days, sometimes it happens constantly, and in some cases fibroadenomatosis develops without obvious symptoms. That is why even in the absence of these symptoms, it is important to undergo a preventive examination by a breast physician.
If at this stage the woman does not turn to the breast physician for help, the transformation of the diffuse form of the disease to the nodular one is possible. Immobile seals without clear boundaries can be felt in the chest (unlike cysts and fibroadenomas, which have clearly defined boundaries). Nodular fibroadenomatosis can be considered as a precancerous condition.
Neoplasms in nodular fibroadenomatosis are arranged in groups, usually affecting a segment or quadrant of the breast. In the diffuse form of the disease, the right breast is more often affected. In addition fibroadenomatosis may be accompanied by the development of breast cysts.
