Consultation at the Oxford Medical clinic takes place in several stages:
- Collection of anamnesis. The doctor listens to complaints, clarifies the duration of symptoms, concomitant diseases, lifestyle.
- Visual acuity test (visometry) - including with correction.
- Biomicroscopy - examination of the anterior segment of the eye using a slit lamp.
- Ophthalmoscopy - examination of the fundus after dilation of the pupils.
Based on the results of the initial diagnosis, the retinologist may prescribe additional examinations: optical coherence tomography (OCT), ultrasound examination of the eye, and others.
After completing the examination, the retinologist establishes a diagnosis and draws up an individual treatment plan, which may include:
- drug therapy (including intravitreal injections);
- laser coagulation of the retina;
- surgical intervention.
