A hyperthyroidism is the disease, which is accompanied by the excess of thyroid hormones and accelerated metabolism. Due to the increase of the amount of thyroid hormones, the air consumption by tissues increases, and the human organism starts working flat out in this condition.

SYMPTOMS OF HYPERTHYROIDISM

The hyperthyroidism itself is the manifestation of the main disease – autoimmune thyroiditis.

The hyperthyroidism is accompanied by such symptoms:

  • rapid heart rate (up to 120 and more beats per minute)
  • excessive sweating;
  • extreme weight loss (5-15 kg per month) on the background of the frequent feeling of hunger;
  • body shivering, irritation, insomnia, agitation;
  • frequent bowel movement and urination;
  • hyperglycemia (high blood sugar level);
  • protrusion of the eyeballs (exophthalmos);
  • rapid fatigability of the muscles;
  • osteoporosis (lowering of the normal bone mass, bone loss)
  • among women – the menstrual cycle disorders (sometimes up to the amenorrhea – full absence of menstruations).

Those, who suffer from hyperthyroidism, experience discomfort and pain sensations during palpation of the thyroid gland.

In terms of the severity of hyperthyroidism, they are divided into three forms:

  1. light stage of hyperthyroidism
  2. medium stage of hyperthyroidism
  3. advanced stage of hyperthyroidism
