Brachioplasty of the arms is a plastic surgery aimed at removing excess flaps of skin on the back surface of the upper arms. It involves excising sagging tissues in the area from the elbow to the shoulder and forming more defined contours.

The procedure makes it possible to eliminate loose, sagging skin that remains after significant weight loss or appears as a result of age-related changes.

There are two main methods of performing brachioplasty:

Since brachioplasty is a surgical procedure performed under general anesthesia, the patient is prescribed a comprehensive examination in advance. Its purpose is to exclude contraindications and risks of complications.

The examination may include:

• blood tests (general, biochemical, coagulation, infections, etc.);

• general urine test;

• electrocardiography (ECG);

• chest fluorography (results valid for one year).

In addition, in the presence of chronic diseases, it is recommended to consult with a specialist doctor and an anesthesiologist.

Two weeks before surgery, medications affecting blood clotting are canceled. One to two days before surgery, a light diet is recommended, and on the day of hospitalization, the patient must come to the clinic on an empty stomach.

Arm tightening surgery is performed in a hospital under general anesthesia.

First, the surgeon makes markings, outlining the future contour of the arm. Then, using a scalpel, the incision is made. It may extend from the elbow to the armpit, sometimes reaching the midaxillary line of the chest. After that, the surgeon excises excess skin flaps, applies cosmetic sutures, and covers them with a sterile dressing.

If the surgery is combined with the removal of fat deposits, liposuction is performed first, followed by brachioplasty.

The duration of the surgery averages from 2 to 3 hours.
