Liposuction

Liposuction is a surgical technique which helps to improve body’s contour by removing excess subdermic fat deposits (located between skin and muscles). Liposuction is meant to be used for local fat depots only (generalized forms of obesity can’t be cured by means of this method) and only for subdermic cellular tissue (internal fat and deposits under muscles can’t be treated by means of lipo). 

Liposuction is aimed at the correction of body’s contours and not at weight loss. 

Not many of us manage to keep in shape during our lifetime. As the result of age changes, unhealthy diet and sedentary lifestyle fat deposits start accumulating in the area of chin, forearms, abdomen, thighs and buttocks. Under the weight of these deposits the skin starts sagging down. The striae and cellulite appears.

Growth of fat deposits is the result of cell fission (adipcytes). After the removal of these cells by means of liposuction, new cells do not appear. Appliance of this effect combined with a diet and regular but moderate exercise load, makes it possible to fix the result of liposuction for a durative period of time. 

Liposuction is a low-trauma method which doesn’t require general anesthesia. The procedure is often performed with local anesthesia or under sedation (dropping-off to medical sleep). 

Through small incisions in the skin the plastic surgeon inserts in a fat depot small stainless steel tubes called cannula. These tubes are connected to a powerful suction pump by means of which fat is removed as the cannula creates tiny tunnels through the fat.

Liposuction can be combined with lipofilling. This procedure is assumed to fill with removed fat the areas which require enlargement or lifting (for example, buttocks). The complex of these procedures is called lipomodelling or liposculpture.
