Sometimes a faster alternative to a two-stage implantation is an instant, or one-stage. It allows you to save time and perform all the necessary procedures in just 1 visit to the dentist.
If with classic implantation the patient can get a ready result only after six months, then with one-stage – on the same day.
One-stage implantation involves performing in one session:
As a result, a patient may come to the clinic with a damaged tooth that requires extraction, and leave a few hours later with a “new” one.
Considering this, instant implantation seems to be a better option than a two-stage one. But it has not only advantages, but also some disadvantages. In particular, it is not suitable for patients who have lost a tooth a long time ago, have caries or gum inflammation. In this case, dental treatment is performed first, followed by a classic two-stage implantation.
The dentist can determine which type of implantation is best for the patient only after an examination and diagnosis (dental X-ray, CT scan or orthopantomogram).
In the case of complete edentia, the doctor may also consider prosthetics using the All-on-6 method, which has its own indications and characteristics.
