Direct veneers

Direct or no-prep veneers are a unique method of fast and painless restoration of the color and shape of teeth. Direct veneers are installed during one visit to the dentistry and they do not require taking casts or removing enamel from healthy teeth. This is a unique in Ukraine method used at the «Oxford Medical» dentistry only.

INDICATIONS FOR THE DIRECT VENEERS PLACEMENT

No-prep veneers are recommended to patients who want to hide aesthetic smile defects:

• chips;
• yellowness;
• the disproportionate size of the teeth;
• old fillings;
• wedge-shaped defect;
• malocclusion;
• diastema (too large gap between the front teeth);
• uneven dentition;
• teeth with a short crown.

No-prep veneers have a number of advantages in comparison with other methods of aesthetic restoration of teeth. Unlike porcelain veneers, which are porcelain covers cemented to the prepared tooth, direct veneers are made of a polymer that is quickly applied to the tooth and, if necessary, just as quickly removed.

 The popularity of direct veneers among patients is explained by:

• Their resistance to staining - tea, coffee, red wine, juices and chocolate do not change their color;
• Shine resistance – straight veneers do not darken over time;
• Color change option – if the shade is not satisfied, you can easily lighten the already installed direct veneers;
• Durability – the material of straight veneers is resistant to physical impact and does not wear out
• Easy and fast installation – no-prep veneers are made directly in the oral cavity, during only 1 visit;
• The opportunity to remove direct veneers and restore the natural appearance of the teeth;
• Lower cost, in comparison, for example, with porcelain veneers.

Direct veneers are indicated in cases when the patient needs to restore the smile urgently, as well as if aesthetic correction is necessary for a short period of time. Most often they are placed on the front teeth, which are subjected to less chewing loads than the side ones.

Direct veneers are also called no-prep veneers because of their quick creation. When installing, for example, porcelain veneers, it is necessary to visit the doctor several times: for the preparation of tooth enamel (the top layer is removed), taking casts, fitting and final placement.

Direct veneers are made much faster: the doctor simply degreases and cleans the enamel surface, applies a glass-ceramic mass to it, from which a direct veneer is formed. After that it hardens in the light of a polarizing lamp. And then the doctor polishes the veneer to make it shine.

The desired color and shape of the direct veneer is discussed with the patient before the procedure. It allows achieving the expected result.

Placement of direct veneers does not require anesthesia, because there is no damage to the tooth enamel. During the whole process, no drill or painkillers are used – they are simply not needed.

Due to the absence of additional steps in the process of direct veneers manufacturing, their cost is lower in comparison with porcelain veneers, because their placement saves not only time, but also money.
