After depulpation, the tooth maintains its strength if the canals are properly filled and the crown part is correctly restored. Changes affect only the internal tissues: nerve fibers are removed, so the tooth no longer reacts to temperature stimuli.
If the tooth was significantly damaged by caries, additional reinforcement may be required — for example, placement of a crown.
After depulpation of front teeth, slight enamel darkening is possible. At the patient’s request, this can be corrected with restoration or veneers.
Depulpation of a wisdom tooth requires a separate approach: due to variable canal anatomy, the decision on the feasibility of treatment is made individually. If performed properly, this procedure also allows for saving the tooth and preventing complications.
In general, with properly performed endodontic treatment and timely restoration, the tooth can serve for many years.
