An MRI of the adrenal glands is performed using a scanner that creates layered images of the organs in different planes. This makes it possible to examine in detail even small changes in the tissues.
During the examination, the patient is positioned on the table of the machine, which moves inside the scanner. During the scanning process, it is important to remain still, since the clarity of the obtained images depends on this. At certain moments, brief breathing instructions may be given.
The examination is performed in series: the machine sequentially records images, which makes it possible to assess the structure of the adrenal glands, their size, and the characteristics of the tissues. If necessary, contrast enhancement is additionally used — the agent is administered intravenously for more detailed visualization.
The duration of the procedure is usually about 20–30 minutes. If contrast is used, the examination time may be longer.
After the examination is completed, the obtained images are analyzed, their interpretation is performed, and a report is prepared with an assessment of whether the indicators correspond to normal values or with a description of the detected changes.
