Surgical treatment of a prostate cyst is not performed in all cases. The decision on removal is made individually — taking into account the size of the cyst, symptoms, and examination results.
Main indications for removal:
- significant size of the neoplasm affecting the function of the prostate gland;
- pronounced symptoms that do not decrease against the background of treatment;
- urination disorder due to pressure on the urethra;
- frequent inflammatory processes in the prostate gland, in particular chronic prostatitis;
- rapid enlargement of the neoplasm;
- suspicion of complications or other pathological changes.
Removal of a prostate cyst is usually performed by minimally invasive methods. Most often, the intervention is performed endoscopically — through the urethra, without external incisions. During the procedure, the doctor opens or removes the cyst, which allows eliminating its pressure on the surrounding tissues and restoring the normal function of the prostate gland.
The operation is performed using modern equipment, under anesthesia and, as a rule, does not require a long stay in the hospital. The recovery period depends on the extent of the intervention, but usually passes relatively quickly.
