Surgical treatment of genital papilloma

Surgical treatment of papilloma on the genitals in Kiev

There is a loyalty program for surgical operations in the hospital, which makes the treatment even more affordable.

Papillomas are benign neoplasms that develop as a result of infection with the human papilloma virus. They rise above the skin by several millimeters, have a thin leg and a rounded body. The color is pink to dark brown.

Papillomas can appear on different parts of the body, including the genitals. In men, they often form on the head of the penis and under the foreskin, as well as in the pubic area, perineum, and anus.

The appearance of papillomas is not only an aesthetic problem. They are a symptom of the development of the human papilloma virus, some strains of which have high oncogenicity. For diagnosis and treatment, you should consult a urologist or an andrologist.

At Oxford Medical, papilloma removal is carried out using non-contact methods: laser or radio wave scalpel, electrocoagulation and cryodestruction. Volumetric neoplasms are removed by surgical excision. Which technique will be the most effective and will allow to obtain the maximum aesthetic result, the specialist determines individually.

When should you consult a specialist?

Papillomas can develop asymptomatically or be accompanied by feelings of discomfort, itching and
pain, and in case of their damage, small bleeding may occur. The appearance of any neoplasms on
the skin is a reason to consult a specialist.

It is most important to do this if

there is skin redness, itching, or other symptoms

many papillomas appeared

papillomas increase in size

often injured

How is papilloma removal performed?

Today, both surgical and non-surgical non-contact methods are used to remove papillomas on the genitals. They allow you to quickly remove the neoplasm, without the risk of bleeding, wound infection or the formation of a large scar.

It is possible to determine the type of neoplasm and confirm that it is benign only based on the results of diagnostics. In addition, if there are symptoms of papillomavirus, antiviral therapy may be required. Experts do not recommend ignoring the problem or removing papillomas yourself, as this can lead to a worsening of the condition and the development of complications.

Removal of papillomas is performed on an outpatient basis. Depending on the number of neoplasms, the procedure can last from several minutes to half an hour. Local anesthetics are used for anesthesia.

In addition to removing papillomas, the patient may be prescribed antiviral therapy. Its need depends on the presence of symptoms of viral infection and the type of HPV. Detection of the virus in the test results in the absence of symptoms is not an indication for therapy. It can be in the body in a latent state. It is important to consider that therapy also does not allow to completely eliminate HPV. The patient remains a passive carrier of the virus.

Methods for removing papillomas

Depending on the location and size of the papillomas, as well as other individual characteristics of the patient, removal is performed using:

Radio wave coagulation

This is the newest and most effective method, the peculiarity of which is the non-contact effect on the skin. Radio wave radiation affects only the papilloma cells, provoking their heating from the inside and, as a result, destruction. This method is the least traumatic and is accompanied by a short and easy rehabilitation period.

Laser destruction

This is a procedure in which light energy is directed at the papilloma cells. It heats them to a high temperature, which causes the fluid to evaporate and the cells to break down.

Diathermocoagulation

This is a method of cauterizing papillomas using electric current.

Cryodestruction

This is a technique that uses liquid nitrogen cooled to very low temperatures to freeze the papillomas, after which they gradually collapse.

Surgical excision

This is the removal of neoplasms using surgical instruments. It is performed in the case of large neoplasms, suspected malignancy, and other indications.
