One of the most common diseases faced by the oncologists is cancer of the endometrium - the epithelial cells of the uterine body. The second most common place is occupied by cervical cancer. If uterine cancer affects mainly women over 50 years, cervical cancer dominates in the age group from 15 to 54 years. The development of cervical cancer can be triggered by HPV - human papilloma virus and associated cervical dysplasia, which is a precancerous condition. 

Ovarian cancer, although less common  met than cervical cancer and endometrial cancer, yet the mortality rate from it exceeds that of cancer of the uterus and cervix combined. Of all deaths caused by cancer, ovarian cancer accounts for about 5%. The average age of patients with ovarian cancer is more than 70 years.

Uterine cancer is determined by ultrasound of the pelvic organs and scraping from the uterine cavity. In ovarian cancer, an important role is played by transvaginal ultrasound of the pelvic organs, in addition, computed tomography including that one with the contrast is used. Sampling for biopsy can be performed as part of diagnostic laparoscopic intervention.

In all cases patients may be prescribed other examinations to exclude the development of tumors in other parts of the body: CT and X-ray of the abdominal and thoracic cavities, gastro- and colonoscopy, breast examination.
