Endocrine surgery

Thyroid surgery is the most radical treatment method. It is most often prescribed in cases of ineffective drug therapy, a serious threat to the patient's health or life, as well as severe aesthetic discomfort (protrusion of the thyroid gland).

The extent of surgical intervention depends on the diagnosis and stage of the disease. Ultrasound (USG), computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), laboratory tests and other examinations are used to clarify them.

There are 4 parathyroid glands in the human body, which are located on the posterior surface of the thyroid gland. Their main function is the secretion of parathyroid hormone (PTH), which controls the level of calcium and phosphorus in the body. With the development of benign or malignant neoplasms, its production increases, which leads to corresponding disorders.

Surgical treatment is prescribed for hyperparathyroidism - a violation of the functioning of one or more parathyroid glands. 

According to the results of the diagnosis, specialists determine the degree of changes and the required volume of surgical intervention.
